This is a very common condition in all ages (no matter what the doctors say as they some how believe it to be in the ‘older’ generation). I have came across this on to many occasions in my short time for that to be true, oh and I also suffer from this myself, even though it was after being told I was to young.
So what is it?
A degeneration of the joint tissue, including articular cartilage and subchondral bone.
Signs and Symptoms:
Pain with exercise (although it can occur at rest), reduced range of motion, possible deformity, local muscular weakness and swollen joints.
The basic pathology is degeneration of the joint and bone due to excessive wear and tear(among others), now after a life time of rugby I know this isn’t just an ‘age’ thing.
