Some facts for the Dietary role of the main nutrients of the body:
Carbs = Energy:Provide the main fuel for energy in the form of glucose.
Protein = Growth and repair: The Body breaks down protein into amino acids for use in growth and repair.
Fats = Insulation and cell integrity: The storage form of fat is adipose tissue and a certain amount is required for insulation.
Vitamins = Specific functions: There are water and fat soluble vitamins which have very different functions for the body (ask for more info).
Mineral = Specific Functions: These can be further categorized by essential and trace minerals. (ask for more info and functions)
Water = Hydration: We can survive a couple weeks without food but only a few days without water. No other nutrient deficiency has such a profound effect.
Fiber = Aids digestion: Soluble and none soluble with many benefits and functions
